Treasures from the Book Sale

Now that the book sale is over, we would like to showcase various titles, rare and not so rare (but altogether very special to us), that we picked up at the book sale while we were taking a break from volunteering.

The Grandmothers by Kathleen Coburn with drawings by John A. Hall:
first edition from 1949!

Viola Whitney Pratt: A Testament of Love, edited by Mildred Claire Pratt: this book is a diary of Viola Whitney Pratt, the wife of E.J. Pratt and was edited by their daughter, Claire,  in the honour of her mother who passed away in 1984

University of Toronto, John P. Robarts Research Library: published by University of Toronto Library, printed by the University of Toronto Press in 1974. This publication describes the opening of the Robarts Library, the architecture and the different departments within the institution, at that time when students were still off limits to the stack area and before the library was open to undergraduates).

Two Thousand Years of Oriental Ceramics, by Fujio Koyama and John Figgess—its tipped-in illustrations are gorgeous!

The Greatest Englishman in History by Canadian Prime Minister Arthur Meighen: an address he gave about Shakespeare in the 1930s.

We hope that our customers were as happy with their findings as we are and we invite you to visit us next year as well!
