Scope and content

Series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence primarily from colleagues, institutions and professional contacts on a range of academic and professional matters, including applications for fellowships and teaching positions, guest lectures, exhibition work, book publications, conferences and research on Blake, as well as letters and cards from friends and former students. Also included are application forms, curricula vitae, receipts and travel documentation.

Arrangement

The arrangement of the correspondence is a reflection of Michael Phillips's original organizational system, which grouped the letters alphabetically by year. The archivist has maintained that same organizational structure in the archival arrangement.
