Autumn Has Arrived

And just like that, another year has passed and we have wrapped up another successful Book Sale thanks to the assistance of our amazing volunteers, and the constant support of the book-loving public! Opening night was packed full of people searching through the stacks and boxes for the newest additions to their personal libraries. To give a little something back to our volunteers for their tireless efforts assisting throngs of book fanatics throughout the sale, we are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Party on October 21st from 5-7pm at the Third Floor Emmanuel College Lounge (to those who have received invitations, please note the location has changed). We are of course also so grateful for all the students, book collectors, professors, and general book enthusiasts who continue to make the Book Sale such a fun, exciting and successful fundraising event for the Victoria University Library!
Thank You!

With Fall now upon us, the Victoria University Library is looking towards November, and offering an interesting commemoration for Remembrance Day. Currently we have an exhibition running in our front foyer, titled Victoria University and the War: Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Great War (1914-1918). The exhibition runs until December 8th, and showcases various photographs, artifacts and ephemera. The Friends of Victoria University Library are also presenting a lecture by alumni Gordon MacKinnon (Vic 5T1 and M.A. 7T1), who will be speaking on The Great War. The lecture will be held on Monday November 10th at 7pm in Alumni Hall (VC122) at Old Vic. Please send an email to s.gough@utoronto.ca or call 416-585-4471 to let us know if you will be in attendance!
