Case 2
Coming to Toronto

Before he arrived in Toronto to attend Victoria College, Frye took a course in shorthand and typing with the Success Business College in Moncton. With a typing speed of 70 words a minute, the owner of the college sent Frye to Toronto to compete in the National Typing contest run by the Underwood Company in April 1929. When Frye achieved second place, Success Business College placed a photo of Frye in the local newspaper, and produced a promotional blotter with Frye’s image on it.
