Acta Victoriana

In 1878 Coleman was teaching Classics and Natural Sciences at Cobourg Collegiate Institute - Victoria College’s prepatory school.

He was an active Vic alumnus and a founding member of the editorial board of Acta Victoriana. Arthur served as ' Associate Editor' and his younger brother Rufus, was 'Local Editor.' Coleman wrote the lead article for the inaugural issue.

Coleman wrote a number of pieces for Acta including: stories about “ye olden barn” (on the Vic campus); a reflection on his studies in Germany; and a description of camping and surveying in northern Ontario. When Coleman was appointed to the Chair of Natural History and Geology (1883), the ceremony oration including Coleman's installation speech was published in Acta.

Acta Victoriana.
The students of Victoria College have decided to publish a Monthly Paper in the interest of the College Societies, to be known as ACTA VICTORIANA. It will contain short literary articles by College men; local items of interest to the Students and their friends; general College and Educational news; and Editorials upon Educational questions, and especially upon questions of interest to the Alumni and friends of Victoria University.
