{"id":284,"date":"2013-06-24T15:38:07","date_gmt":"2013-06-24T15:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/library.vicu.utoronto.ca\/friends\/blog\/?p=284"},"modified":"2013-06-24T15:38:07","modified_gmt":"2013-06-24T15:38:07","slug":"our-reading-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.vicu.utoronto.ca\/friends\/blog\/?p=284","title":{"rendered":"Our Reading Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our annual book sale benefits Victoria University Library in a number of ways: development of\u00c2\u00a0collections (both <a title=\"General Collections\" href=\"http:\/\/library.vicu.utoronto.ca\/collections\/\" target=\"_blank\">general<\/a> and <a title=\"Special Collections\" href=\"http:\/\/library.vicu.utoronto.ca\/collections\/special_collections\/\" target=\"_blank\">special<\/a>: acquiring new materials and preserving rare books and other items), establishing scholarships and bursaries for Victoria College students, and organizing social events and other <a title=\"Events\" href=\"http:\/\/library.vicu.utoronto.ca\/friends\/events.html\" target=\"_blank\">functions<\/a> (guest lectures, film screenings, and many others).<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, we contributed to enhancing the landscape in the vicinity of the E.J. Pratt Library. The reading garden, located right outside the main entrance, consists of comfortable benches in a nicely shaded area, with wonderful views of the Vic campus and Queen&#8217;s Park Crescent East.<\/p>\n<p>It has proven to be a popular spot with students\u00e2\u20ac\u201dsince the campus wireless network is accessible in this area, it is possible to pursue library&#8217;s online resources and even work on your paper\u00e2\u20ac\u201dcome to enjoy the reading garden throughout the summer and beyond!<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 {\n\t\t\t\tmargin:
