Permission to Publish and Associated Fees
Providing access to collections or photo duplication of collection materials does not
include or imply permission to use the materials in a publication, broadcast
or performance. For permission to use materials in a publication, broadcast
or performance, written application must be made to the Librarian or Archivist.
Conditions of Use
Permission is for one time use only, as described on this form, with no other rights.
Any subsequent use constitutes reuse and must be applied for in writing
to the Librarian or Archivist. An additional fee may be charged for reuse. New editions,
revisions, updates to a product or service will require separate permission
and fees payable. The license is personal to the licensee and can not
be transferred or sub-licensed without the Library and Archives’ consent.
Reproduction rights are non-exclusive. Victoria University Library and Archives does not surrender its
right to grant permission to others to print the same material.
All reproductions used, whether in published or unpublished material, must be credited
to Victoria University Library (Toronto) or Victoria University Archives (Toronto).
Permission or performance fees are negotiated on a case-by case basis and will vary according
to format of publication and distribution; such fees are independent
of any fees that may be assessed by a copyright holder. Any fees levied
are intended to offset a part of the Library and Archives’ costs associated
with processing, preservation and public service of its collections.
Publication fees are waived for theses and dissertations.
A copy of the published work should be presented to the Library and Archives when
the work has been released by the publisher.
Permission to publish and photograph materials belonging to copyright holders
Researchers must obtain all necessary publication permission from the copyright holder.
The Library and Archives will, to the best of its ability, aid the researcher in
providing contact information for the copyright holder. The researcher
will agree to indemnify Victoria University Library and Archives against all claims,
demands, costs and expenses, including attorney’s fees incurred
by copyright infringement or any other legal or regulatory course of
action arising from the use of Victoria University Library and Archives collection
  materials.
