Before Accessing UofT Wireless Network

Before you attempt to connect to the wireless network, please make sure that you follow these steps. This is applicable to all users:

 
  1. Check your eligibility: only U of T students, staff and faculty are able to use the wireless network.
  2. You will need your UTORid login and password to access the network.

Connecting to UofT Wireless Network

Which mobile device are you using?

Android

  1. Select Settings on the home screen and choose Wireless and network.

  2. Tap Wi-Fi settings.

  3. Tap Turn on Wi-Fi.

  4. A list of available wireless networks should appear on the screen. Tap UofT.

  5. In the next screen that opens, choose the following settings:

    under EAP method, choose PEAP
    for Phase 2 authentication, choose MSCHAPV2
    under CA certificate and User certificate, leave as Unspecified
    in Identity, type your UTORid
    in Password, type your password
  6. Tap Connect.

iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad

  1. Go to Settings and choose Wi-Fi (make sure it is turn on).

  2. Select UofT from the list of available connections.

  3. Type your UTORid and password in the appropriate fields.

  4. Tap Join.

  5. In the Certificate screen, tap Accept.

Blackberry

  1. Select Options on the home screen.

  2. Select Network and Connections and then Wi-Fi Network.

  3. Select UofT from the list of available network connections.
    step 3
  4. If UofT does not appear on the list of available networks, select Other ways to connect.

  5. Select Manually Connect to Network.

  6. In the SSID field, enter UofT and select Next.

  7. Under Security Type, select WPA/WPA2 Enterprise. For the Enterprise Sub-Type, select PEAP.

  8. Enter your UTORid as the Username and corresponding password for Password.

  9. Select AddTrust External CA Root as the CA certificate.

  10. Select EAP-MS-CHAP v2 for the Inner link security. Scroll down and select Save and Connect.

Rules Regarding Wireless Usage

Usage of the wireless network is subject to all existing policies for the appropriate use of information technology.

Please consult General Coverage Maps: St. George Campus to check the number of wireless access points in each building.
