This print was taken from a miniature by Miss E. Sharpe. It was included in the 1860 Southgate & Barrett Catalogue, where it says: "This picture represents the well-known incident of Cleopatra, after the death of her paramour, Anthony, destroying her own life by applying an asp to her bosom."
