HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE ALBERT. 1855

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE ALBERT

Companion print to above print, Victoria, Queen of Great Britain.

Not quite a full-length portrait of the Prince, who, in the elaborate uniform of the XI Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) and wearing the Garter riband, stands at Windsor, part of the Castle of which forms the background. The Prince, on his marriage to Queen Victoria on 10th February, 1840 , received the title of Royal Highness and amongst other honours the command of the above regiment, but at this time he had not received that of "Prince Consort," which was not bestowed until 1857. This is an accurate copy of the picture by Partridge painted about 1841.
