Biographical Sketch

John Ratcliffe Grant (1913–1990) was born in Honan Province, China, the son of Presbyterian missionaries. He was granted a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1947, and in 1950 came to Victoria University as an Assistant Professor of Classics. Dr. Grant taught at Victoria until 1979, becoming a Professor of Classics in 1975.

Scope and Content

Fonds consists of personal papers of John Ratcliffe Grant, 1942-1983, including his doctoral thesis on Ancient Roman History for Harvard University, 1946.
